Bio

Ah. This is awkward. Honestly, I was hoping no-one would look at this page. I’d rather you read my fiction than anything about me.
Well, seeing as you’re here…

I’m an independent author by choice. If anyone’s willing to pay me the value I put on my creative control, they’re not sane enough to own it.
My debut novel, The Spike Volume 1: Wake, was self-published in 2017. Two prequel short stories were published by otvmagazine.com, which no longer exists; those shorts can be read here, along with a third I self-published.
Work continues on The Spike Volume 2, and yes, I’m aware 8 years is a daft amount of time to wait for a sequel. At least the gap won’t be as long as the 36 years between the two Top Gun movies. Probably.

I don’t know if it’s possible to be a successful indie author and maintain anonymity, but I intend to find out. I don’t want readers assigning additional weight to any passage, character, or happening in my stories because they think it links to my own trait, acquaintance, or experience. No-one should be thinking, “the author is x, this character is x, therefore this character is the author!” I’d rather such speculation didn’t distract from the magnificence of my creativity.

I recommend my blog if you want to know how the magic happens. (It’s not magic. It’s a lot of long, hard work. Authors are masochists. Not the kinky kind – except the spicy romance writers. Some of them have got to be freaky.)

Sorry if you thought you were going to find out more about me. You’d have been better off reading my fiction because (and perhaps I should have mentioned this at the beginning) it’s good.

Thanks though. I do appreciate it.
